Abstract: 

SODIUM ALGINATE IS A BIOPOLYMER COMPRISING CARBOXYLATE GROUPS. THE MAGNETIC FE3O4 WERE SYNTHESIZED SEPARATELY BY PRECIPITATION OF IRON SALTS [1]. THE FE3O4 NANOPARTICLES WERE ADDED TO SODIUM ALGINATE SOLUTION AND ACRYLAMIDE WAS GRAFTED ONTO SODIUM ALGINATE IN THE PRESENCE OF MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES. THE SEM OF THE OBTAINED MAGNETIC ADSORBENT SHOWED A RELATIVELY SMOOTH SURFACE. THE ALGINATE-BASED ADSORBENTS WERE EXAMINED TO REMOVE CATIONIC METHYLENE BLUE FROM WATER. THE EFFECT OF PH ON THE DYE ADSORPTION CAPACITY OF MAGNETIC-FREE AND MAGNETIC ADSORBENT WAS EVALUATED. THE RESULTS WERE SHOWN IN FIGURE 1. AS CAN BE SEEN FROM FIGURE, BY CHANGING THE PH OF INITIAL DYE SOLUTION, A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN DYE ADSORPTION CAPACITY OF ADSORBENTS WAS OBSERVED [2]. THIS BEHAVIOR CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE PKA OF CARBOXYLATE GROUPS ON ALGINATE. THE PKA OF ALGINATE IS ~4.5. WHEN THE PH OF INITIAL DYE SOLUTION IS LOWER THAN 5, THE –COO- GROUPS ARE CONVERTED TO – COOH GROUPS AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE ADSORPTION CENTERS ARE DECREASED. BY INCREASING THE PH OF INITIAL DYE SOLUTION UPPER THAN 5, THE DYE ADSORPTION CAPACITY SWITCHED TO INCREASE.

Abstract: 

Mesostructured iron oxide/ethylene glycol (FeOx/EG) nanosheets with an oval shape were created and employed as a magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) sorbent to extract herbicide chloridazon. Iron oxide layers are intercalated with deprotonated ethylene glycol molecules to provide an interlayer gap of 10.6 A. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), the size, shape, content, and characteristics of the produced nanocomposite were determined. The key influencing factors for extracting chloridazon, such as the volume of the sample, the amount of sorbent, and the desorption solvent, were optimized. High-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection was the subject of analyses. The approach demonstrated strong linearity in the range of 0.01–100 µg.mL-1, reasonable repeatability (RSD 3.017%, n = 3), and limits of detection (0.001 µg.mL-1) under the ideal extraction conditions.

Abstract: 

The current research was designed to study the adsorption of Cobalt Co (II) and Nickel Ni (II) on the surface of modified polyurethane-magnetic nanoparticles (PU-MNPs) as adsorbent. The adsorbent was characterized using a variety of techniques including Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Dispersive X-Ray Detection (EDX and) Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Different parameters were studied to obtain the best results such as pH, contact time, the concentration of initial metals and temperature. The highest results were obtained at a pH of 5 for Cobalt ions, and at a pH of 7 for   Nickel ions. The minimum contact time was 120 min for Cobalt ions and 60 min for Nickel ions. The initial concentration was 150 mg/g for Co ions and 250 mg/g for Ni ions, and 300 agitation rpm speed at temperature 25±2 °C, which was 82% and 94% for Cobalt and Nickel ions respectively. The results showed that the adsorption follows the Lankmayr and Freundlich equations. It was noticed that the Cobalt Co (II) and Nickel Ni (II) ions both followed the Langmuir isotherms. The maximum adsorption of Co (II) was higher than that of Ni (II).

WATER CONTAMINANT IS BEING RECOGNIZED AS A PRESENT AND FUTURE THREAT TO HUMAN HEALTH. A SERIES OF HEALTH SYMPTOMS, SUCH AS HEADACHE AND INSOMNIA, HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS, A MAJOR CLASS OF ORGANIC POLLUTANTS IN WATER [1].DUE TO THE LARGE SURFACE AREAS, WELL-DEFINED PORE STRUCTURES, AND TUNABLE PORE SIZES, MESOPOROUS NANO PARTICLE MATERIALS HAVE BEEN WIDELY USED IN THE TECHNIQUES OF ADSORPTION AND SEPARATION. RECENTLY, FUNCTIONALIZATION OF ORDERED MESOPOROUS SILICA BY DOPING USEFUL ORGANIC MOIETIES ON OR WITHIN SILICA MATRIX HAS BEEN PROVED TO HAVE HIGH PERFORMANCE FOR THE ADSORPTION OF THE TOXIC COMPOUNDS IN WATER [2].IN THIS STUDY, MCM MESOPOROUS MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES (FE3O4/SIO2 CORE/SHELL) WERE CHEMICALLY SYNTHESIZED AND APPLIED FOR PRECONCENTRATION OF TRACE AMOUNTS OF BISPHENOL A FROM AQUEOUS SAMPLES. BY COUPLING WITH GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY, A RELIABLE AND SENSITIVE METHOD FOR THE PRECONCENTRATION AND DETERMINATION OF BISPHENOL A WILL BE DONE.THE SYNTHESIZED NANOPARTICLES WERE CHARACTERIZED BY XRD, SEM, AND FT-IR INSTRUMENTS. THE EXPERIMENTAL PARAMETERS AFFECTING THE PRECONCENTRATION PROCESS INCLUDING SAMPLE VOLUME, SORBENT AMOUNT, CONTACT TIME AND IONIC STRENGTH WERE INVESTIGATED VIA EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN. AFTER OPTIMIZING THE EFFECTIVE PARAMETERS, THE FIGURES OF MERIT OF THE PROPOSED METHOD WERE OBTAINED AT THE OPTIMUM CONDITIONS. FINALLY, THE APPLICABILITY OF THE PROPOSED METHOD FOR THE EXTRACTION OF REAL AQUEOUS SAMPLES WAS INVESTIGATED AND SATISFACTORY RESULTS WERE OBTAINED.

Abstract: 

Textile industry wastewater in additions toxicity for organisms led to changes as decreased of water transparency and sunlight penetration and increase in chemical oxygen demand. Therefore, this study was carried out with the aim of removal of cationic red 46 dye from aqueous solution. For this purpose, the magnetic polymeric composite of graphite oxide nanoparticles (GO) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) in the matrix of polyacrilonitrile fiber (WPAN) at micro size by electroespining method was prepared. The XRD and SEM tests were used to determine the polymeric adsorbent characteristics. Magnetic properties of magnetic nanoparticles and polymeric adsorbent were measured at using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis. Batch adsorption tests were optimized using the L16 orthogonal array of Taguchi method. The effects of variables including pH, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration and contact time on the dye removal were examined and the most influential factor in the removal of dye was pH. The adsorption isotherm data were well-fitted to Freundlich isothermal model (R2= 0. 99). Furthermor, adsorption kinetics of the dye followed pseudo-second-order model. Basic on these results, the polymeric composites was effective adsorbent for dye removal with efficiency over 96% and with quick separation for dye removal from aquatic solution.

Abstract: 

Background and Aims: Disc displacement is the most common temporomandibular joint disorder and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the gold standard in its diagnosis. This disorder can lead to changes in signal intensity of magnetic resonance (MR). The purpose of this study was evaluation of correlation between relative signal intensity of MR images of retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior head of lateral ptrygoid muscle with type of anterior disk displacement and condylar head flattening in patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD).Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, 31 MR images of patients who had anterior disc displacement were evaluated. After relative signal intensity measurement for retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior head of lateral ptrygoid muscle, the correlation between relative signal intensity and type of anterior disc displacement was evaluated with repeated measure ANOVA test. In each of these 3 areas, t-test was used to compare the groups with and without condylar head flattening.Results: The correlation between relative signal intensity of MR images and type of anterior disc displacement in retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior head of lateral ptrygoid muscle was not significant. There was also no statistically significant correlation between relative signal intensity of MR images and flattening of condylar head in retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior head of lateral ptrygoid muscle (P>0.05).Conclusion: According to findings of this study, relative signal intensity of MR images in retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior head of ptrygoid muscle is not a good predictor for type of anterior disc displacement and flattening of condylar head. It seems that this cannot be used as a diagnostic marker for TMD progression.

Abstract: 

Nano-sized nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) and cobalt ferrite particles (CoFe2O4) were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal method. Techniques of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer and transmission electron microscope have been used to characterize and study the as-synthesized NiFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 products. The results showed that the average size of the nickel and cobalt ferrite nanoparticles is smaller than 10 and 100 nm, respectively. The results of magnetic measurement showed that the synthesized NiFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were superparamagnetic and soft ferromagnetic materials, respectively. Study of adsorption behavior showed that these nanoparticles can act as a good adsorbent for removing Pb2+.
